Survey Data To-date to be Presented at Conference for First Time
We are excited to share that we will be co-presenting at the SENIA Unplugged Virtual Conference in November 2026. With more than 1,000 attendees each year, SENIA Unplugged is the largest conference for learning support educators in the international school community.
Our community survey is already providing valuable insights into the experiences of families navigating inclusion in international schools. If you have a friend that you can encourage to register, please ask them to join our free site and complete the optional survey. We will be sharing survey findings publicly for the first time during our November conference presentation, including some of the data highlighted above.
We will place our community’s experiences in the context of worldwide trends and data from more than 15,000 international schools, helping to highlight both challenges and opportunities for inclusion across the international school sector.
Every additional response strengthens our ability to advocate for better and more inclusive educational pathways in international schools worldwide. The link to register is here:

Family Experiences with School Transitions
The first chart highlights in shades of red one of the most significant trends we have observed since launching the survey in November 2023: nearly one in two families report having to leave an international school because the level of support did not meet their child’s needs.
Among respondents:
- 29.3% relocated to a different school
- 16.2% turned to homeschooling
- 5.1% enrolled their child in a boarding school
- Additional families shared other experiences through written responses
By comparison, 33.3% of families reported that they have never had to leave an international school due to insufficient support and have consistently felt well supported. Additional positive experiences were also shared through written comments, with all families that have not had to change schools due to support issues shaded in green.
Diagnoses and Learning Profiles Within Our Community
The second chart shows the diagnoses and learning profiles reported by survey respondents. Percentages represent the proportion of families completing the survey who identified each profile.
The most frequently reported diagnoses and profiles include:
- ADHD: 63.95%
- Autism: 58.14%
- Anxiety: 43.02%
- Dyslexia: 27.91%
- Depression: 17.44%
- Giftedness/Twice Exceptional: 13.95%
- Dyspraxia: 12.79%
- Developmental Delays: 12.79%
- PDA: 12.79%
- Auditory Processing Disorder: 11.63%
- Dyscalculia: 11.63%
- Sensory Integration Challenges: 11.63%
In addition to these, families reported 23 other diagnoses and learning profiles.
One particularly striking finding is the complexity of many families’ experiences. Only one in eight respondents reported a child with a single diagnosis, while the family reporting the highest level of complexity identified 14 diagnoses and learning profiles within their family.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the survey so far. Your participation is helping build a stronger evidence base for inclusion and ensuring that the voices of families are represented in conversations about the future of international education.
